Multi-leg routing and contract rates applied to the NetSuite order

Millions of carrier rates held in one versioned library and applied against the sales order or purchase order automatically, with ocean, rail, air, and drayage legs rated as a single move.

A rate sheet that lives in a spreadsheet is applied by whoever is at the desk, which means the same lane gets quoted three ways and the saving you negotiated never reaches the order. Freightgate's NetSuite TMS integration holds contract, spot, and tariff rates as policy and applies the right one against the NetSuite record at the moment the order is created, including moves that cross several legs and modes.

The gap

The order is priced by whoever is at the desk.

Contract rates live in a PDF, a spreadsheet, and a planner's memory. Surcharges move. A new lane gets quoted from the last one that looked similar. The number written on the NetSuite order is an estimate, and the real rate shows up at invoice. When the move has an ocean leg, a rail leg, and a drayage leg, it gets booked as three separate decisions, so there was never a real comparison between routing options.

Multiply that across every lane and the spend you negotiated quietly stops following the contract.

Capabilities

What rate management brings to the NetSuite order.

Millions of carrier rates in one library

Contract, spot, and tariff rates across ocean, air, land, and rail held in one versioned library, loaded once by Excel, EDI, or API, and applied against the NetSuite order.

Multi-leg routing as one shipment

Ocean, rail, air, and drayage legs are rated and routed together, comparing true door-to-door cost and transit, so the best-fit routing wins on the order rather than leg by leg.

Surcharges and accessorials applied automatically

Fuel, congestion, and accessorial rules apply at the same time as the base rate, so the figure on the order is the landed rate rather than a base rate with surprises to come.

Spot and contract side by side

Spot and contract rates show against each other on every lane, so a market move is a decision someone makes on the order, not a leak found later.

Off-contract moves flagged before they ship

A booking that falls outside the contract or the routing rules is flagged with the on-contract option shown, before the fulfillment moves.

Versioned, with an audit trail

Every rate change is versioned with an audit trail, so you can show which terms applied to which order, and when.

How it works

From contract to applied rate, on the record.

1

Order created in NetSuite

Lane, mode, equipment, and service level read from the sales order or purchase order.

2

Eligible rates compared

Every contract, spot, and tariff rate for that lane and mode is evaluated, with surcharges and accessorials applied.

3

Routing options compared as one move

Direct and multi-leg routings are weighed together on cost and transit against your routing rules. For an ocean move, that includes the sailing the booking will hold.

4

Rate applied and locked on the record

The applied rate is written to the order and carries into the landed cost at creation.

5

Rate carried to invoice audit

The same applied rate is what the carrier invoice is matched against before the vendor bill is approved.

Questions

What NetSuite teams ask first.

How are rates loaded?

Upload any Excel format you already keep rates in, connect by EDI or API, or import directly from your carriers and forwarders. Two decades of integrations mean most of your carriers are already live in the library.

Which modes does it cover?

Ocean, air, land, and rail, including multi-leg moves that combine them, all in one rate engine, so the same policy applies no matter how the freight moves.

Is the applied rate written to the NetSuite order?

Yes. The rate is applied against the sales order or purchase order, carries into the landed cost on the record, and is the rate the vendor bill is later matched against.

What does multi-leg routing mean in practice?

An ocean leg, a rail leg, and a drayage leg are rated and routed as one governed move instead of three bookings, so the comparison between routing options is a real door-to-door comparison on cost and transit.

What happens when a booking goes off-contract?

It is flagged before it ships, with the on-contract alternative shown alongside it. The exception is handled at decision time, not discovered at invoice audit.

Does this replace our TMS or ERP?

No. Freightgate sits above NetSuite and any execution systems you run and applies your rate policy across them through EDI, API, and web services. It does not rip and replace.

Is this a validated SuiteApp?

Yes. Freightgate is a Built for NetSuite validated hybrid SuiteApp.
