Ocean freight in NetSuite, priced on the order before it ships
Contract ocean rates, sailing schedules, and multi-leg routing applied against the purchase order, so the landed cost on the record is the cost you actually contracted.
Most NetSuite shippers handle domestic parcel and LTL inside the ERP and handle ocean somewhere else: a forwarder portal, an email thread, a spreadsheet of contract rates that is three amendments out of date. The order carries an estimate and the real number arrives with the invoice. Freightgate's NetSuite TMS integration closes that gap by applying the contracted ocean rate against the order itself, at creation.
The ERP knows the order. It does not know the ocean rate.
An international purchase order is raised in NetSuite with a freight estimate that someone typed in. The actual booking happens in a forwarder's system against a contract that lives in a PDF. By the time the vendor bill arrives, the rate has moved, a surcharge has been added, and the landed cost on the item is wrong. Finance reconciles two versions of the same shipment, and the margin on that SKU was never what the system said it was.
Multiply that across a few hundred containers a year and the variance is not a rounding error. It is a planning problem.
What the SuiteApp brings to an ocean move.
Contract ocean rates on the order
The contracted rate for the lane, carrier, and service level is applied against the purchase order automatically. Not an estimate, not last quarter's tariff. The rate the contract actually says.
Multi-leg routing as one shipment
An ocean leg, a rail leg, and a drayage leg are rated and routed as a single governed move rather than three disconnected bookings, so the comparison between routing options is a real comparison.
Validated sailing schedules
Schedules across carriers are validated rather than taken at face value, so the ETA on the order reflects a sailing that exists.
FCL and LCL handled on the same record
Full container and consolidated moves are rated and tracked against the same NetSuite objects, so a consolidation decision does not mean leaving the ERP.
Compliance on the same order
Denied party screening, ISF, and SOLAS VGM run against the order and its parties. A compliance hold stops the fulfillment rather than surfacing later in a separate system.
An international PO, governed end to end.
PO raised in NetSuite
Supplier, item, and destination data validated against the record.
Contract rates applied
Ocean tariffs, surcharges, and accessorials loaded from the rate library.
Best-fit route selected
Multi-leg options compared on cost and transit, against your routing rules.
Booking executed
Tendered to the carrier or NVO, zero-touch where the rules allow.
Events posted back
Vessel milestones, ETA shifts, and exceptions reported against the item fulfillment.

What NetSuite teams ask first.
Can Freightgate rate ocean freight inside NetSuite?
Yes. Contract ocean rates are applied against the purchase order or sales order automatically, using the rate library loaded for your contracts rather than a spot-rate lookup.
Which ocean carriers are supported?
Freightgate connects to 120+ ocean carriers and NVOs through EDI, API, and web services, from an integration library built since 1994.
Does this handle FCL and LCL?
Both, against the same NetSuite records. Consolidated and full-container moves are rated and tracked in the same workflow.
How are sailing schedules handled?
Freightgate maintains validated sailing schedules across carriers, so the transit time applied to the order reflects an actual sailing rather than a published average.
Can it rate a multi-leg move as one shipment?
Yes. Ocean, rail, air, and drayage legs are rated and routed as a single move, which is what makes a genuine routing comparison possible.
Do we still need our forwarder?
Usually yes, and that is fine. Freightgate governs the decision and the rate above whatever execution partners you use. It does not replace your forwarder relationships, it makes them consistent.
Where does landed cost get applied?
At purchase order creation, while the buying decision can still change. See the landed cost page for how freight, duty, and accessorials are handled.
Is this a validated SuiteApp?
Yes. Freightgate is a Built for NetSuite validated hybrid SuiteApp, which means it has passed Oracle NetSuite's review for integration standards and installs against your account rather than running as an unsupported customization.
