Freightgate Announces Breakthrough Electronic Freight Management Study

Freightgate Announces Breakthrough Electronic Freight Management Study in collaboration with Transport Canada and Port of Qingdao, China

Huntington Beach, California, February 26, 2013 - Freightgate, a global provider of Logistics Cloud Solutions, announces new breakthrough Electronic Freight Management (EFM) study conducted in collaboration with Transport Canada and Port of Qingdao, China. The Freightgate study demonstrates how new UBL (Universal Business Language) web technologies can improve data and message transmissions in freight management and facilitate faster business transactions between supply chain partners. Freightgate is the only commercially available logistics cloud platform supporting Electronic Freight Management.

UBL is a global standardized set of XML schemas designed to plug directly into existing business and freight management practices. The U.S. Department of Transportation Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) reports a common electronic freight management would improve the speed, accuracy, and visibility of information transfer in a freight movement, which could reap large rewards for the U.S. economy. Electronic Freight Management will play a prominent role to advance operating efficiency, safety, and security in the movement of goods.

"The combination of EFM and UBL hold the promise of superior connectivity and as such are consistent with our long standing mission of delivering continuous improvement to supply chains around the globe while generating exponential value" explains Martin Hubert, CEO Freightgate, "and we thank our counter parts for the excellent cooperation in making this study an important milestone in realizing a joint vision."

As part of this collaborative study, Freightgate spearheaded both the implementation as well as the educational aspects to advance Electronic Freight Management exposure to the transportation governance of China. The Freightgate technical team worked with the Qingdao Port team and Transport Canada to engage the Freightgate EFM platform. Companies using the new EFM platform achieve faster real-time visibility across their supply chain with open communication to optimize and shorten event management timeframe, thereby reducing transportation spend with improvements in overall service performance.

The EFM study revealed "supply chain visibility and collaboration solutions such as Freightgate's EFM Platform provide considerable benefits to supply chain efficiencies. It provided maximum deployment flexibility for customers while protecting their ROI at every stage. Without visibility and monitoring tools in the logistics management lifecycle for ocean, rail, drayage, and customs, delays will occur. While each delay may seem inconsequential, these delays have costs associated for the importer or forwarder or partners that can add up to significant and real dollars taken from their bottom line. An interconnected platform with faster electronic communication driving cost reductions is the primary goals in implementing the EFM application."

Freightgate Announces Enhanced Predictive Analytics for Logistics Management

Freightgate Announces Enhanced Predictive Analytics for Logistics Management

Huntington Beach, California, February 21, 2013 - Freightgate, a global provider of Logistics Cloud Solutions, announces enhanced predictive analytics capabilities in its Logistics Cloud Platform, known as the Freightgate Universe.

Recently Freightgate advocated that Predictive Analytics, business intelligence will help manage every aspect of supply chain and logistics management. Predictive Analytics enhances the quantitative value of raw data allowing logistics managers to analyze current and historical facts to make predictions about future events. Newer advancements in data aggregation and pattern recognition have opened new realities for Logistics Management.

In complex and dynamic supply chains meaningful data segmentation and classification becomes nearly infeasible to dissect and extract value due to its sheer volume, eclectic sources, and diverse configurations. Logistics managers ponder what can we do with all that data? Predictive modeling helps logistics professionals see the future providing opportunities to create better service performance while reducing operational costs and mitigating risks.

Martin Hubert, Freightgate, President, said, "Continuous improvements in a company's logistics management starts with the ability to gather data, measure performance, and find meaning full correlations to transform raw data into actionable information." The Freightgate Universe enables greater efficiency in gathering and normalizing information to mine, analyze, measure benchmark providing ability to make timely decisions crucial to business success. The power of leveraging big data requires scalable storage, processing, archiving, and extracting capacity limited to a few technology companies like Freightgate who have made sizable investments in their cloud computing infrastructure.

Partner with Freightgate to achieve better data mining, scenario planning, and forecasting to improve process and resource optimization, spot business trends and patterns, identify risks and opportunities, and track performance metrics.

Freightgate Releases Customer Self-Service Center Module supporting NVOCC Negotiated Rate

Freightgate Releases Customer Self-Service Center Module supporting NVOCC Negotiated Rate Agreements

Huntington Beach, California, February 13, 2013 - Freightgate has released a new Customer Self-Service Center module as an all-inclusive solution for NRA management in full compliance with FMC regulations. The U.S. Federal Maritime Commission ruled to exempt licensed NVOCC's from filing and publishing tariffs. Using Freightgate's new module, licensed NVOCCs and shippers can now take full advantage of the Negotiated Rate Arrangement (NRA) exemption from tariff rate publication requirements of the Shipping Act, while minimizing the administrative overhead related to tracking each transaction.

NRAs are written and binding arrangements between a shipper and a licensed NVOCC to provide specific transportation service for a stated cargo quantity, from origin to destination, on and after a stated date or within a defined time frame. If an NVOCC uses NRAs it does not have to publish these rates in the tariff it makes available to the public. This is a strategic advantage for NVOCCs to offer shippers spot ocean shipping rates; and shippers to gain a competitive market edge while lowering their transportation spend.

"We are particularly proud of the elegant fusion of quote acceptance and booking this module creates;" say Martin Hubert, President and CEO at Freightgate, "it harnesses modern Web technology to provide a great user experience and make NRA compliance a breeze".

Freightgate NRA Self-Service Center is a User friendly Cloud web-based platform for 24/7access providing faster rate quotation acceptance with NVOCCs in compliance to FMC guidelines. The module correlates quotations, acceptance of quotation, assigned a unique NRA-Quote number, booking confirmation, assures proper application of rates and surcharges, updating status, and record keeping requirements. It maintains NRA history in a secure database.

Freightgate's Logistics Cloud Platform empowers professionals on all levels to collaborate with global vendors and logistics providers seamlessly on a single common transportation sourcing platform for informed decision-making across the entire network. It encompasses ISO9001:2008-certified end-to-end transportation management processes from procurement, rate management, optimization, execution and visibility, carbon footprint, through invoice audit & pay. Freightgate Forecasts Emerging Supply Chain Trends in 2013

Freightgate Forecasts Emerging Supply Chain Trends in 2013

Huntington Beach, CA, United States January 18, 2013 - Last year Freightgate predicted five emerging supply chain trends. Our crystal ball was accurate. In 2013 these same supply chain trends will continue with more emphasis in five critical areas - sustainability, visibility, predictive analytics, innovation and partnerships.

Trend #1: Sustainability. Business Leaders will focus on best-in-class solutions to meet progressively more challenging customer requirements.
In 2013 business leaders will continue struggling with diverse supply chain challenges ranging from spend management, visibility, business intelligence, to the growing complexity of optimizing rate and surcharge management with delivery performance. Supply chain flexibility and logistics responsiveness adapting to volatility and competitive pressures coupled with meeting customer requirements will create a keen focus to find best-in-class solutions that will drive and enhance supply chain sustainability.

Solution: Freightgate's Supply Chain Solutions are custom-tailored to provide collaborative manageability of freight rates, lead times, capacity allocations, faster quotations, better yields and more sales without straining operating budget and expenditures. Learn more ...

Trend #2: Visibility. The quest for cycle time reductions and dynamic lead times driven pricing, will drive renewed focus on end-to-end supply chain visibility.
As supply chains grow more complex in global dimensions, participant size, and sensitivity to localized disruptions, companies will require more robust end-to-end supply chain visibility to enable better global risk management. Traditional low-tech tracking and tracing software will need to be replaced with dynamic cloud-driven dashboards. Supply chain directors will empower their logistical analysts with S&OP and risk management tools to manage decision-making within the execution window at each and every juncture of their supply chain. Capacity management, forecasting and contingency planning will play an important role in operating a lean supply chain. Businesses are integrating cloud-based platforms to afford better visibility, flexibility, and responsiveness.

Solution: Freightgate has been a pioneer in web-services enabled solutions resulting smarter more informed decision making for all stake holders. Learn more ...

Trend #3: Predictive Analytics. Business Intelligence will help manage every aspect of supply chain and logistics management.
While 'Big Data' seems to be everywhere, Thought Leaders will focus on timely Predictive Analytics. Supply Chain executives are faced with the challenges to capture, store, search, sharing, analysis, and the visualization large and complex data sets. In complex and dynamic supply chains meaningful data segmentation and classification will emerge and people will realize the true value of current information on inventory in transit or possible shipping delays augmented with macro trends on rates, transit times or capacity. The ability to make timely decisions based on available data is crucial to business success. Business intelligence will move toward flexible hybrid models of real-time information correlated with data mining, scenario planning, and forecasting to provide more informed supply chain decisions with the ability to improve process and resource optimization, spot business trends and patterns, identify risks and opportunities, and track performance metrics.

Solution: Freightgate's refreshing approach gives access to both predictive analytics and Now-Data. Learn more ...

Trend #4: Innovation. Thinking 'Outside the Box' will become a valued asset to drive supply chain cost savings with improved performance.
Supply chain and logistics executives have journeyed the long-winding road through freight management 101, experimented with costly home-grown TMS systems, been involved with labor-intensive RFPs, and some have outsourced processes with mixed results. When all is said and done, the Holy Grail is a supply-chain driven by total-value. In 2013, business leaders must become more innovative to juggle the quest for profitability while they assimilate the demanding pressures to provide more solutions to meet varying and specific customer demands. Customer demand and public perception will have to be valued and added to the equation escalating the need for customized logistics solutions. Both price and innovation will be important evaluation factors in designing supply-chains and the award of contracts.

Solution: By enabling broader value factors such as finance charges for inventory in transit, carbon emission, MQC penalties to just name a few Freightgate gives its users a more complete picture. Learn more ...

Trend #5: Partnerships and Integration. Supply Chains are becoming too brittle and to external factors to handle frequent unplanned changes; bringing the need for an elastic dynamic design that relies on trusted partners to the forefront.
Shippers, transportation carriers, logistics and software solution providers are beginning to realize that in order to create an elastic and robust supply chain forming partnership and teaming together is a better route than trying to the 'king of the road'. That said depending on scope, single sourcing philosophies with all eggs in one basket is unlikely to return. Everyone can benefit to increase revenue, profitability without increasing costs. There will be more initiative-driven partnerships and 'vested' outsourcing as service excellence backed by real-time information becomes a core and strategic priority. Cloud Technology and new open standards such as EFM unlocks a new age of collaboration and competitiveness giving every business equal opportunity to participate in global markets with costs savings and productivity benefits.
